SESA is a Technical Society of Engineers Australia and the Australian affiliated chapter of the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). Individual memberships are available in three grades (Member, Student Member and Senior Member) and are purchased through Engineers Australia. Individual membership of SESA confers all of the benefits of membership of INCOSE.

SESA's mission is to foster the definition, understanding, practice and advancement of Systems Engineering in Australian Industry, Academia and Government. SESA aims to provide the national vehicle to make Systems Projects successful through the establishment of a viable Systems Engineering culture in Australia.

Individual membership is open to everyone with an interest in Systems Engineering. Systems Engineering is a multi-disciplinary field and benefits from the diverse background of its members. SESA membership comprises of people working in technology domains including IT & Telecommunications, Defence, Aerospace, Intelliigent Transport, Medical Devices, and Energy Utlities. Members also come from a wide range of disciplines such as Project Management, Software & Hardware Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Integrated Logistics Support, Test Engineering and others. SESA also has strong ties with academic institutions that offer courses in Systems Engineering and research & development into Systems Engineering best practices.

SESA is the lead Systems Engineering learned society within Australia, and is therefore able to offer the following key benefits to all individual members:

  • Login access to a members private area on the SESA website which provides download access to SESA Organisational documents, past SETE conference proceedings and general Systems Engineering related resources (Note - new members who have not been provided with login details should contact the SESA Webmaster);

  • An opportunity to network with other Systems Engineering professionals;

  • SESA's annual SETE conference provides networking opportunities and presentations from other professionals in the field. It includes a combination of plenary sessions, panels, papers, tutorials, workshops and trade exhibits. SESA members get a substantial discount when registering for this conference;

  • SESA's annual Australian Systems Engineering Workshop and Model-based Systems Engineering Symposium (ASEW/MBSE) is held late in the year and SESA members get a substantial discount for this Workshop and Symposium;

  • SESA Newsletters, which are published 4 times per year and provide a wide range of information related to Systems Engineering practice.


Corporate Memberships

If you belong to a company or government department involved in the acquisition, design, development, manufacturing, implementation, or support of complex projects and systems, or provide education and training in systems engineering and related fields, then you should consider Corporate Membership of SESA for your organisation.

The scheme is open to any company, organisation, government department, or academic institution, anywhere in the world, which is involved in any aspect of systems engineering.

SESA's Corporate Members provide valuable financial support for the work of SESA. The following benefits are available to them:

  • Employees of Corporate Members receive member discounts at SESA Conferences, Symposia and Workshops;

  • Corporate Members are represented on the SESA Management Committee;

  • The names of our Corporate Members are displayed on the SESA Website and on the cover of the SESA Newsletter, thus giving your organisation greater exposure;

  • Corporate members can have links to their Training, Education and Professional Services offerings added to the SESA Website "Links" menu

Applications for membership with SESA are performed on-line via the Engineers Australia Technical Societies web site. Please note that you will need to apply for an Engineers Australia ID (EA ID) prior to applying for membership with SESA - the Engineers Australia Technical Societies web site has a link to request and EA ID.
